If the goal is to stay on target when taking follow-up shots then, it's crucial to keep your barrel level between trigger squeezes. To give yourself a little help in that department, you can swap out your mil-spec A2 flash hider with a compensator. Compensators are like muzzle brakes, except that they direct the expelled gas upward instead of out to the sides, to compensate for recoil impulse. Strike Industries gives you an excellent choice of compensator to help you manage recoil with their King Comp for .223/5.56mm rifles.
The King Comp does what a compensator should: it helps you to minimize muzzle rise. However, it has an added bonus feature: the side ports have been shaped in such a way that it also helps to take the edge off the concussive force created by brakes and compensators. See below for more info.
Features:
- Dual chamber design to reduce felt recoil
- Specifically angled gas ports to cancel side concussion
- Serrated prongs for barbed wire removal
- Heavy duty steel construction with parkerized finish
